Fonda La Catrina

Departing opening night with Steph and Erin of the European Masters exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum, Erin asked me if I wanted to join them at their next stop. Why not? So, we headed down to the first anniversary party of Fonda La Catrina Mexican restaurant, in Georgetown. The joint was hoppin’ - literally - to the beat of a Latin band. The food was beautiful. Put this spirited spot on your list.

Carrie Mae Weems at the Portland Art Museum

I captured a few images at the opening of the Carrie Mae Weems mid-career retrospective at the Portland Art Museum. Activities included an opportunity to view the exhibition and reception in the museum’s nearby Mark Building. Later in the evening, I attended an intimate reception hosted by Jack Shainman, owner of Carrie Mae’s New York art gallery. Carrie Mae is originally from Portland. She and I first met in the early 1980s, when we were graduate students at the University of California, San Diego.
