Oscar Hernández and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra at the 2018 Monterey Jazz Festival

On September 22, Oscar Hernández and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra performed on the Jimmy Lyons Stage, at the 2018 Monterey Jazz Festival. The performance also premiered “Monterey Encounter,” commission by the Monterey Jazz Festival, and featuring special guest Hubert Laws, on flute.

The orchestra included: Oscar Hernández, piano, leader; Marco Bermudez and Carlos Cascante, vocals; Jeremy Bosch, vocals, flute; Hubert Laws, flute; Manuel (Maneco) Ruiz and Hector Colón, trumpet; Doug Beavers, Noah Bless, trombone; Mitch Frohman, baritone sax, flute; Gerardo (Jerry) Madera, bass; Luisito Quintero, timbales; George Delgado, congas; Jorge González, congas; and Jorge González, bongos, maracas, guiro.
