Contemporaries committee at Howard House & James Harris Gallery

The Henry Contemporaries is a patron-level membership group of the Henry Art Gallery. On March 1, 2008, I joined members of the committee responsible for planning Contemporaries events on an informal tour of galleries in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood.

Our first stop was Howard House. Artist Gretchen Bennett exhibited Kurt Cobain inspired drawings in the gallery’s front room in a show titled “Hello.” The back room featured a show curated by Bennett and titled “Supernature.” Ms. Bennett discussed the two shows during our visit.

Our next stop was James Harris Gallery for a group show titled “Message In A Bottle.”

After the current show ends, James Harris Gallery is closing down for a couple weeks in order to move to a new and larger location. Jim Harris took our group on a tour of the new facility, currently under construction and scheduled to open on April 3, 2008.
