California 2007 - Day 7

We’re back in Napa Valley wine region. This is the third straight year that Liis and I have combined touring wineries in Napa and Sonoma, followed by the Monterey Jazz Festival. It’s good to be back.

Before we left Seattle, Liis spent hours on the telephone putting together a terrific set of wineries for us to visit, including a number of private events that she has access to because she works in the hospitality industry.

First up was Freemark Abbey:

Our next stop was Twomey Cellars:

All the wineries we’re visiting are top notch, but Viader impressed with its spectacular hillside setting, fine wines and gracious hospitality:

We visited Joseph Phelps:

Our last stop today was Grgich Hills, co-founded by Mike Grgich, one of the pioneer premium winemakers of the Napa Valley:

For the third-straight year, we were fortunate enough to have accommodations at the Cuvaison Winery guest house, nestled beside a vineyard in the Carneros area:

On our first trip together to the Napa Valley, we met a friend, Kenneth Pledger, for lunch at the Boonfly Café, part of the Carneros Inn. We had dinner tonight at Boonfly and enjoyed the casual setting and excellent food.
