The Underground Museum

The Underground Museum, in Los Angeles, is exhibiting “Artists of Color,” curated by the late Noah Davis. The show is the third exhibition resulting from the artists-run Underground Museum’s ongoing collaboration with the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, in which the space features works from L.A. MOCA’s collection.

KCET produced an outstanding 2016 video profile of the space, featuring Helen Molesworth, chief curator at L.A. MOCA.

I visited the Underground Museum, located in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, on February 10, 2018.

On the way from Sedona to the Phoenix Airport, there was time for a short visit to Arcosanti, the experimental community in Yavapai County, Arizona, built as a living laboratory to express the ideas of the Italian-American architect Paolo Soleri (1919-2013).

Montezuma Castle National Monument

On the way from Sedona to the Phoenix Airport, there was time for a short visit to the Montezuma Castle National Monument. The area features a well-preserved set of multi-story cliff dwellings built and used by the pre-Columbian Sinagua people.
