SambaDá at the 2019 Monterey Jazz Festival

Afro-Samba-Funk-Dance-Music band SambaDá performed on the Garden Stage, on September 27, 2019. The band included: Elisangela Sousa-Dandha, vocals; Anne Stafford, sax & flute; Alexandre, Godinho-Papiba, guitar & vocals; Etienne Franc, bass; Gary Kehoe, drums; Ibrahima Ngom-Ibou, percussion; Will Bates, percussion; and two dancers.















Allison Au Quartet at the 2019 Monterey Jazz Festival

The Allison Au Quartet opened the 2018 Monterey Jazz Festival, on the Garden Stage, on September 27, 2019. The group featured: Allison Au,  sax; Daniel Fortin, bass; Todd Pentney, piano; and Fabio Ragnelli, drums.

Edgar Arceneaux at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute

Los Angeles-based artist Edgar Arceneaux screened a 2015 film of his play Until, Until, Until . . . at the Langston Hughes Performance Arts Institute, on May 19, 2019. The event took place during an Arceneaux exhibition titled Library of Black Lies, at the Henry Art Gallery. A panel discussion followed the screening.
