Deborah Hay & Stuart Dempster at What's Up

Sunday, April 22, 2007, was an unusually warm and crystal clear Spring day.

What's Up is a monthly Seattle gathering of people engaged in the arts, hosted by Anne Focke and Carolyn Law. Usually held in Anne's Belltown condo, this month's presentations, discussion and soup-based dinner took place in Carolyn's Green Lake neighborhood home.

The first presenter was the principal of the Deborah Hay Dance Company. Ms. Hay described her goals and process through words and a lively demonstration.

Next up was Stuart Dempster, who played several instruments, created sounds with sticks and was accompanied by two addditional musicians.

Shamim M. Momin - One Pot at Western Bridge

Shamim M. Momin

A visit to the Pacific Northwest by Shamim M. Momin was the motive for a Seattle One Pot dinner event at Western Bridge, on April 10, 2007. Momin, associate curator of the Whitney Museum of American Art and co-organizer of the upcoming 2008 Whitney Biennial, engaged in a discussion with attendees, including Seattle Post-Intelligencer art critic Regina Hackett, who mentioned the event in her blog.

Greener installation at Olympic Sculpture Park

Greener, an installation by Seattle-based artist Iole Alessandrini, in collaboration with Ed Mannery, was the first temporary installation at the Olympic Sculpture Park. The piece employs lasers and custom-designed optics and was on display in the evening from January 11 through February 28, 2007.

The Seattle Art Museum opened its Olympic Sculpture Park on Saturday, January 21, 2007, to an estimated 23,000 first-day attendees. By mid-April, the park had welcomed nearly 250,000 visitors.
