Anti-Prop 8 Rally in Seattle

A rally in Seattle on November 15, 2008, attracted thousands of protesters unhappy with the passage of California Proposition 8. Narrowly passed, Proposition 8 restricts the definition of marriage, in California, to the union between a man and a woman. Related demonstrations took place in numerous cities across the United States, including Boston; Chicago; Washington, DC; San Francisco; New York and San Francisco.

Another protest was sighted at the edge of the anti-Proposition 8 rally.

James Moody and the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra

The 2008 Earshot Jazz Festival included a pair of performances by the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra (SRJO), featuring guest artist James Moody. The October 31 and November 1, 2008, performances were held in the Nordstrom Recital Hall in Seattle and the Kirkland Performance Center. James Moody is a legendary saxophonist and flutist, honored as an NEA Jazz Master in 1998. Jim Wilkie of radio station KPLU recorded the Kirkland session and you can hear musical selections in streaming audio. Photographer and SRJO board of directors member Bruce Moore captured images of the Kirkland performance.

As an SRJO board member, after the performance, I attended and photographed an informal reception for band members, the SRJO board of directors and other supporters:
