Between S. Jackson and S. King Streets, just east of First Avenue South (map), is a one-block urban-renewed alley. Currently, beneath the roar of Seattle’s Alaska Way Viaduct, this space has the potential to become a tiny urban oasis, when the viaduct is finally torn down and silent. The terrace of my favorite local Italian restaurant, Il Terrazzo Carmine, faces a water feature that provides a reflection in the first three photographs below.
